Frequently Asked Questions
What types of cases do you work with?
I enjoy taking on a wide variety of behavior challenges, and specialize in what are sometimes called “big feelings” cases (fear, anxiety, reactivity, and aggression). I also work extensively with puppies, take a deep interest in enrichment strategies, and focus heavily on challenges inherent to city life. I do not take separation anxiety cases.
How do I get started?
Submit an inquiry with your information here! If your case is within my scope of work, you’ll be sent a link to book a free Discovery Call so we can chat and get to know each other. You won’t be asked to commit to anything during this call, and will be sent a quote to review after.
Can I book just one session?
I do not offer a la carte coaching sessions to new clients due to the complex nature of behavior modification. Single follow-up sessions are available to clients who have previously completed a coaching package. Single 90 minute virtual consults are available to new clients, and can be applied to a larger package within 30 days of the consult taking place.
Why do packages start with a virtual consult?
All Custom Coaching and Home School packages start with a virtual consult to collect relevant details about your dog and share information about our training plans. Consults are conducted virtually to ensure efficient use of time, since the consult is discussion-heavy and doesn’t typically involve “training” with your dog.
Will we be using treats in training?
Yes! For most dogs, food functions as a primary reinforcer, which means it has intrinsic value. This is usually the easiest way to reinforce desired behavior efficiently and effectively.
Do you use prong collars, electronic collars, choke chains, or slip leads in training?
No. If you are currently using one or more of these tools and are interested in working together, we will discuss a plan for discontinuing their use.
What if my dog isn’t food motivated?
There are lots of reasons why a dog might not be interested in eating food or treats! Part of our work together will include determining why that’s the case, how to change that, and what other reinforcer options are available to us.
Where do training sessions happen?
In-person sessions are primarily held at your home and in your neighborhood (or other places you spend your time), but can also be held in various public places to work on specific skills and goals. Virtual sessions are held on Zoom.

Do you guarantee results?
Nope! It’s impossible to “guarantee” the future behavior of any living thing. Behavior is complex, multifaceted, and constantly evolving. I aim to help you gain a deeper understanding of your dog’s behavior, and give you and your dog the necessary strategies and skills to make progress towards your goals.
